Use a product export or an import file · analysis stays local
Your CSV is not sent to OwnerLoop. Product names, SKUs, barcodes and prices remain on your device.
Catalog report
We’ll show errors, warnings, safe corrections and an OwnerLoop-oriented parts and compatibility analysis.
PARTS & COMPATIBILITY ANALYSIS
Heuristic catalog signals—not confirmed product compatibility. Review these opportunities against your product knowledge.
Review the downloaded file before importing. Missing business data is reported but never invented.
BEFORE YOU IMPORT
How to validate a Shopify product CSV
Turn a fragile spreadsheet import into a reviewable catalog workflow.
- 1
Export or prepare the CSV
Use Shopify’s product export or your import template. Keep the original file as a backup.
- 2
Review errors and warnings
Start with missing columns, handles, duplicate SKUs, variant combinations, prices and barcodes. Then review images and identifiers.
- 3
Download and compare
Inspect the corrected file in a spreadsheet, confirm intentional exceptions and import a small test batch before updating the full catalog.
MORE THAN A SYNTAX CHECK
What your catalog says about the owner experience
A product CSV is also a map of what shoppers may need after purchase. Reliable SKUs and identifiers help connect finished products to filters, cartridges, replacement parts, manuals and accessories.
The parts analysis looks for likely replacement-product language and possible accessory relationships. It deliberately labels them as candidates: true fitment requires a compatibility model, not keyword matching.

THE NEXT STEP WITH OWNERLOOP

GOOD TO KNOW
Shopify product CSV validator FAQs
Does this upload my Shopify product CSV?
No. The file is decoded, parsed and analyzed by JavaScript in your browser. OwnerLoop analytics receive only aggregate counts such as the number of rows and issues, never product names, SKUs or file contents.
What does the corrected CSV change?
The download applies conservative structural fixes: trimming stray whitespace and invalid bytes, normalizing handles, standardizing valid prices and changing invalid statuses to draft. It does not invent missing titles, SKUs, images, barcodes or option values.
Which Shopify CSV problems are checked?
The validator checks required columns, missing and broken handles, duplicate or blank SKUs, malformed GTIN barcodes, invalid prices, invalid or missing statuses, missing titles and images, inconsistent variant options, duplicate option combinations and common encoding problems.
How are replacement parts identified?
Parts and accessories are heuristic signals based on product titles, types and tags. Words such as replacement, filter, cartridge, refill, belt, battery and accessory are useful catalog clues, but the results should be reviewed by someone who knows the products.
Can I import the corrected file directly into Shopify?
Review the issue list and the corrected file first, then keep a backup of the original export. Shopify may change import requirements and your catalog can contain intentional exceptions. Use the corrected CSV as a safer starting point, not an automatic publishing decision.
What barcode formats are accepted?
Non-empty barcodes are checked as GTIN-8, UPC/GTIN-12, EAN/GTIN-13 or GTIN-14, including the check digit. If you intentionally use internal non-GTIN barcodes, treat those findings as review items.
